Daddy Daughter Trip

At the beginning of each year, Chris takes one child with him to AZ. This year Sydney got to go and had a ball! There were a few tears shed when she left, but I guess I have to admit that they were only mine. I don't like being apart from my Sydney! Anyway, I'm glad she had this one on one time with her dad and AZ family.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Winter or Spring?

I just love Texas winters. 3 days ago the kids were out of school because of ice...

 

 

...today it was beautiful and 72 degrees, so we took full advantage of it and walked to the park to have a picnic, play baseball, swing, and feed the ducks.

 

4 Months

Gavin is growing up - he actually wasn't off the charts which I thought he would be. But still, he was in the 75th-80th percentile for everything. His head used to be in the lower percentile, but with my boys, I knew that wouldn't last for long! Anyway, he's 16 lbs. 12 oz. and 26" long. Big boy! He's starting to laugh, which just melts me. He's still one of my fussier babies, but his cuteness makes up for it. And the fact that he sleeps 11 hours straight most nights doesn't hurt either (but then hardly sleeps during the day)! We love you, Gavvy (as Carter likes to call you)!

Fun Week After Christmas

All of my family was in town for Christmas so my parents wanted to plan a fun-filled week for all of us and they sure delivered! There was eating, horse back riding, cooking out at the Labrum's, shooting, movie-going, game playing, etc. But they also took us to the greatest kid-friendly hotel called the Great Wolf Lodge where there is a huge indoor water park. The kids LOVED it!



That night was annual boys night out where Pop took his 5 "sons" to the "meat" restaurant and a Mavericks game. Then today they took us all to Six Flags (there were 27 of us and LOTS of babies and strollers - what a sight) and the lines and weather were great!


Tomorrow is girls day out and we're looking very forward to that. Thanks Mom and Dad for such a fun, fun holiday!

Christmas Eve and Day, part 1

Not much can beat Christmas time, at least for me. We LOVE traditions in our family and continued them this year. Christmas Eve was spent at Patty and Trey's (used to be Meme and Granddad's house) with all of our extended family. It wouldn't be complete without dinner, the Nativity Play put on by the grandkids, the talent show, a visit from Santa, and presents at Nana's house.




Brighton was THRILLED to get a Nintendo DS for Christmas!

Then Christmas morning was so much fun - our kids are all at such wonderful ages for this. Sydney would ask every single morning for the past 6 weeks how many more days, and then count them in her head to see JUST how long until it came. And Carter really wanted a train set, and would wake up every day from his nap and say "Is Santa going to bring me a choo choo train for Christmas?". So sweet.

Christmas Joys, and Ice???

Sydney now thinks Christmas can't come without decorating a gingerbread house each year, and was thrilled when I told her we were doing one on Saturday.

So we woke up this morning and assumed it was a regular day like any other. I got the girls up and started feeding them breakfast and thought I better just check outside since there was a light dusting of ice/sleet the night before. Nope, nothing, so surely we had school. Well, come to find out, school wasn't only delayed, but CANCELLED. Do you see all that snow and ice outside? ME EITHER! Crazy Texas.

Shy Stubbornness

This is the perfect term for Sydney, as you can see in her Preschool Christmas presentation. She flat out refused to sing one word or do one action. All the kids said "Happy Birthday Jesus" into the mic as they walked on stage, and of course, Sydney passed right by the microphone without even acknowledging it. He music teacher laughed and said "Sydney told me from day one that she wasn't going to say that. I knew she would stand by her word, too!"
